The principle of "minimal intervention" should be followed during restoration, preserving as much of the book's original materials and structure as possible to avoid secondary damage from over-repair. After restoration, the book should be placed in a stable environment, and the spine's condition should be observed regularly to ensure the restoration's lasting effect.
